Veterans Day November 11th

Veterans Day is a time to reflect and honor those who have served and are currently serving in the United States Armed Forces.

The Red Cross has a long-standing history of supporting service men and women and their families.

When a family is getting ready to see their loved one leave to serve a tour far from home, the Red Cross provides resources to help the entire family with the transition.

When a spouse waiting at home has urgent news regarding their unborn child or a service man or woman needs to rush home for a family emergency, the Red Cross is there to help.

When a wounded service man or woman returns from their tour overseas and arrives on American soil for the first time, the Red Cross is there to welcome them home.

These are just some of many ways the Red Cross continually provides help and support.

Each year the American Red Cross of the National Capital Area hosts an unforgettable evening of saluting those who serve in the United States Armed Forces and the families who support them. Click here to learn more about this annual gala and how you can be a part of this special event.

Also, during this time of year, the American Red Cross coordinates Holiday Mail for Heroes. This is a wonderful opportunity to send cards of thanks and well wishes to our service men and women, and to share some joy and hope to those who are unable to be home during the holidays.
